Summer CHA Recap

Hey everyone! This week I had the privilege and thrill of attending Summer CHA. I still can't believe it was right here in Las Vegas and just a quick 20 minute drive from my house.

I thought it'd be fun to share a few photos from the show. These are unedited mobile phone pics and while the quality isn't too good, the memories are wonderful.

I was so excited to meet the fabulous Teresa Collins. I'm such a big fan- of her and of her products. She was so friendly and down to earth. A really beautiful person. I was even fortunate enough to do her make and take with her.

Brandon O'Neill has got to be one of the sweetest and cutest women on the planet. Totally down to earth and a joy to talk to. What an amazing smile she has!

It was fun to meet Heidi Swapp and watch her demonstrate her products. It was so kind of her to pause and let me snap a photo.

Madison was super friendly and had such an enthusiastic energy about him. His personality really lit up the Echo Park booth.

Of course I was a bit mesmerized to see Tim Holtz for the first time and to be able to stand within arm's reach watching him demonstrate his products.

I am over the moon thrilled for my dear friend Delaina Burns for being selected for the Prima design team. Well, of course she was chosen, she's amazing!! So the very first thing I did when the show floor opened at 9:00 was head directly to the Prima booth to see Delaina's gorgeous projects. She had several layouts, a pillow, a tray, and more prominently displayed in the booth- I was so excited for her. I stuck my giddy head in front of several of her projects and took photos of myself with them such as the one above. That was a lot of fun for me.

I'm surprised the Prima booth crew didn't insist on charging me rent for all of the time I spent in and around their booth. Cari Fennell and Sharon Laakkonen were really nice. I must have went back there a dozen or more times, and could have stayed there for hours soaking up all of that gorgeous stuff. It was a real joy to meet Kelly Foster and Erin Blegen outside of the booth.

I took tons of photos of favorite products and such, but I won't bore you with those as you can see good photos of everything on the manufacturers' sites. But here are some of the lines that are at the top of my wish list:
Teresa Collins Memorabilia
Teresa Collins Family Stories
Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Flea Market
BoBunny The Avenues
My Minds Eye Cut & Paste
Pebbles From Me to You
Pebbles Front Porch
Carta Bella Hello Again
WRMK Chalkboard
Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party
also, lots and lots and lots of Prima of course :)

Well, I hope you enjoyed these quick photos of my CHA experience. One of the best things about being there was seeing some favorite designers' projects in person and to be able to study details that cannot be easily seen in online photos. I had plenty of A-Ha moments, where I said, "ohhhhhhhhh that's how they did that", as well as lots of thoughts of, "wow! Look at all of that dimension!!"

I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Next week I will have sneak peeks to share of the August My Creative Scrapbook kits :) And, I happen to know that lots and lots of the new CHA products that we love will be in the upcoming MCS kits!

My Creative Sketches July Sketch Challenge

The new sketch challenge is up and running at My Creative Sketches.

As always, there's a really wonderful prize package up for grabs for the randomly drawn winner.  I hope you'll play along!

Here's my layout:

I used some leftovers from last month's Limited Edition kit from My Creative Scrapbook featuring Crate Paper DIY Shop along with some gorgeous laser cut chippies and doilies from Gina's Designs and a couple Prima flowers from my stash.

I'm always trying to improve my layering and lately I've been heavily inspired by some amazing scrapbookers who have their layering perfected, two of which are my teammates at My Creative Scrapbook: Delaina Burns and Christin Gronnslett. Thank you for the inspiration!

The simple treatment that I used on the Gina's Designs raw chippies was a light layer of randomly dabbed gesso followed by dabs of brown distress ink.

The Gina's intricate cardstock doilies added such lovely detail- I used them as-is.

Here's the July sketch:

and here's the fabulous prize:

I'd love to see one of my readers win this!
The details can be found on the My Creative Sketches blog.

This kit features Little Yellow Bicycle Poppy and includes lots of double-sided patterned papers, a paper crafting flower kit, canvas title stickers, and chipboard shapes plus a package of burlap flowers, Thickers, and cute dot ribbon.

I layered 4 pieces of patterned paper onto the card base, added on a chipboard frame, and embellished with layered flowers, a sentiment diecut, and a pearl sticker from Little Yellow Bicycle's paper crafting kit.

These vibrant colors are so cheerful!

More Little Yellow Bicycle Poppy: My Creative Scrapbook July Creative Kit

I have another layout to share that I made with the July Creative kit from My Creative Scrapbook kit club.

This kit features Little Yellow Bicycle Poppy and includes lots of double-sided patterned papers, a paper crafting flower kit, canvas title stickers, and chipboard shapes plus a package of burlap flowers, Thickers, and cute dot ribbon.

I chose the pretty blues and greens plus a splash of yellow for this one.

This was Allison's 4th gymnastics class. I was SO proud of the very long way that she came in just 4 short sessions- she went from shy and hesitant to brave and confident! The coach was just amazing.

The burlap flowers are some of my favorite Little Yellow Bicycle embellishments. I'd really love to have a constant supply of these in my stash!

Their paper crafting flower kit is another favorite of mine. There are lots of possibilities for layering the flower and diecut pieces. The little pearls add a lovely touch.

My Creative Scrapbook July Creative Kit: Little Yellow Bicycle Poppy

The Creative kit this month at My Creative Scrapbook features the Poppy collection from Little Yellow Bicycle!

This kit includes lots of double-sided patterned papers, a paper crafting flower kit, canvas title stickers, and chipboard shapes plus a package of burlap flowers, Thickers, and cute dot ribbon.

Here's one of the layouts that I made with the kit:

Don't you love those vibrant colors? I couldn't believe how well they matched Allison's beach towel!

Here I've clustered a pair of the darling burlap flowers with some chipboard shapes and an accordion flower topped with a diecut sentiment piece.

A chipboard fence, bird house, and flowers topped with a diecut flower and a cute dot ribbon bow make up this cluster.

The awesome canvas stickers in the kit make it so easy to add an eye-catching title.

More Simple Stories I Heart Summer: My Creative Scrapbook July Main Kit

Hello! I have another layout to share today that I created with the July Main kit from My Creative Scrapbook kit club.

This kit features Simple Stories I Heart Summer and is loaded with double-sided papers, cardstock stickers, layered stickers, chipboard stickers, mistable Thickers, Prima flowers, ribbon and lace, and even a Prima stencil/mask!

I'm so glad that I finally got this photo scrapped. I always felt Allison looked so much like her daddy, but with a "goatee" like his, they really look like twins!

I was thrilled to find that the July kit includes a Prima stencil/mask. That is something that can be used over and over again. I used it here with a bit of molding paste for some subtle texture around the photo.

Here's a cluster of Prima flowers, chipboard stickers, a layered sticker, and a pretty lace bow.

The fun overlapping banners here are a sticker from the chipboard sheet.

These Thickers are able to to misted, inked, etc., but I wanted to leave them clean and white.

There are several alpha stickers in the kit to choose from!

The July Main kit

A 6-month membership to the My Creative Scrapbook Main kit is just $31.99 + shipping per month. That's quite an awesome deal especially when you consider the amount of products that are included. For information on purchasing any of the kits, please visit the website, here.
