Ruby Rock-It Mini Gift Boxes with Bows + Giveaway Alert

Hello!  I'm up on the Ruby Rock-It Bella! Fundamentals blog today for Day 6 of their Countdown to Christmas! I've created a trio of mini gift boxes topped with coordinating bows for my post today.

If you've been following along on my blog you may know that my family and I have been living in a hotel for the past several weeks while we wait to move into our new home. The housekeeping staff here have gone above and beyond to make our temporary living environment as comfortable as possible for us.

They couldn't help but notice my stash of scrapbooking supplies and tools that I have here in our hotel room, and they've showed a lot of interest in my Ruby Rock-It goodies. So, of course I wanted to create some pretty Ruby Rock-It packaging for the gift cards that we'll be giving them for Christmas.

The Eklectique collection was perfect for creating beautiful gift card boxes and bows. It's such an elegant, versatile collection which worked wonderfully for Christmas gift packaging. The color combinations and designs in this line are so lovely!

These little boxes measure 4 inches by 4 inches by 1 inch and are just the right size to fit a gift card and some chocolates or other small gifts. I LOVE how easily the Eklectique papers and coordinating tags, trimmings, and bling made it to assemble these boxes in very little time. I hope the housekeeping ladies will enjoy them :)

Please visit the Ruby Rock-It blog to get in on the GIVEAWAY and for links to the products used in my project. Have a great day!

My Creative Sketches December Sketch Challenge

Hi everyone! The December sketch challenge at My Creative Sketches went live this week and is open for entries through January 14th.

This is my take on the sketch. We call the sunglasses that Allison's wearing her "diva glasses".  The papers that I used here are from the Cakewalk collection by October Afternoon.  The flowers are all Primas, and the pearl bling crown is Ruby Rock-It Bella! Fundamentals.

Pam puts together the most generous, beautiful prizes and this month's is no exception, as you can see in the photo below :) The prize winner is determined by random draw, so I hope you'll give it a go!

All of the details of this challenge can be found on the My Creative Sketches blog, here.

Paper Wreath Tutorial

Hello and happy Friday!  I'd love to show how I created a holiday wreath using the December Creative Kit from My Creative Scrapbook.

Kit supplies:
Approximately 80 strips of 12-inch x 1/2-inch patterned paper
wide decorative ribbon
large chipboard shape (not shown)

Additional supplies:
10-inch styrofoam wreath
hot glue gun and several glue refills
pencil

Roll a 12-inch x 1/2-inch patterned paper strip tightly around the barrel of a pencil to form a loop shape, then let the paper loop unroll slightly.

Using a hot glue gun, adhere the rolled loop to the styrofoam wreath.

Continue rolling and hot gluing the paper strips one at a time onto the wreath. Be sure to alternate the paper patterns and to glue the loops in a variety of directions so as to cover the white styrofoam base and to add interest to the finished project.

When I had about half of the paper loops glued down, I paused and hot glued the large chipboard snowman onto an empty area of the wreath. That way I could be sure that I had left enough room for him on there. Then, I continued rolling and gluing the paper loops until the entire wreath was covered.

Form a pretty bow with the wide decorative ribbon and hot glue it in place for the finishing touch.

This is such a simple, fun way to dress up any room for the holidays.  I hope you'll try it!

My Creative Scrapbook December Creative Kit

The December Creative Kit at My Creative Scrapbook features the super cute Bo Bunny Mistletoe collection!  In addition to the adorable papers, the kit has coordinating chipboard stickers, letter stickers, brads, and flowers along with a huge box of mambi chipboard shapes, plus some festive ribbon and trim.

I was able to create 2 Christmas decor items 2 layouts and still have tons of embellishments left over.  Here are my projects:

The above wreath and below door hanger along with the altered tray that I shared here yesterday are doing a great job of making our hotel room look Christmas-y!

The photo on the layout below was from last Christmas. My little scholar was so excited to find an alphabet puzzle under the tree.

Unlike last year, this year Allison was hesitant about sitting on Santa's lap. So, Santa had us distract her while he hid behind his chair, and when Allison saw that he was "gone", she was willing to sit in his chair by herself.  Then, Santa peeked out from behind the chair, and we got to go home with this cute photo.

You can find a lot more projects with this kit created by my teammates in the My Creative Scrapbook design team gallery.  If you've been thinking about subscribing to the kit club, now is a really great time... with Winter CHA coming up next month, Pam will be filling her kits with all of the new fantastic products!

My Creative Scrapbook December Main Kit

It's reveal time at My Creative Scrapbook!  Once again, Pam has managed to put together incredible kits, and this month they are filled with lots and lots of goodies for all of your holiday crafting.

The December Main Kit features a wonderful variety of holiday-themed papers from Authentique, Carta Bella, and Echo Park complimented by awesome chipboard pieces, cardstock stickers, decorative brads, Prima and Petaloo flowers, and fancy ribbons and trims.

Here is what I created with this lovely kit:

It's been "interesting" scrapping with just my most basic supplies and in our little hotel room, but since Pam's kits are so filled with products, I had everything I needed to get several projects created.

Here's a photo of the December Main Kit:

Check out the My Creative Scrapbook Design Team Gallery to view the gorgeous creations submitted by my teammates. You can also find several of their projects on the My Creative Scrapbook facebook page.

Thanks for stopping by today!

My Creative Scrapbook December Kits Sneak Peeks

Well it's been a bit over 2 weeks since my family and I arrived in Las Vegas. We've been keeping rather busy house hunting, exploring the area, dining out, and keeping Allison entertained. Admittedly, I'm really enjoying the temporary perks of dining out and of having someone come in to our room each day to tidy things up, but beyond that, I'm so looking forward to getting out of this hotel and moving into our new home. But that won't be for another 6 weeks or so.

In the meantime I've been sure to squeeze in some scrapping time and have even managed to create some Christmas decor items for our hotel room. This month, I got to create with My Creative Scrapbook's Main kit and Creative kit. Obviously I didn't bring my whole scrap stash to the hotel- only my very basic supplies- so I'm all the more appreciative of the fact that Pam's kits include everything that is needed to create several projects. Between the 2 kits that I worked with, I have 8 projects to share, and today I can show some sneak peeks.

Here are some sneaks of my December Main kit work:

Thanks for stopping by- can't wait to start showing you the full reveals tomorrow!

Ruby Rock-It!

I have some fun news to share!

I was so surprised and flattered when I received an invitation to join the Ruby-Rock It Bella! Fundamentals design team.  Imagine my further excitement when I discovered that I needed to use our hotel's luggage cart to transport the big, heavy box of goodies that they sent me up to our hotel room! I can't wait to dig in and start playing with these awesome products.

RRBF offers quite a wonderful variety of paper and embellishments... you can see them all on their website, here.

The new team is being introduced on the Ruby Rock-It blog this week and next, so head on over to learn about the talented group of ladies that I have the pleasure of joining.

My Creative Sketches November Sketch Challenge

Hi everyone! It's been awhile, huh? I'm happy to report that my family and I are getting settled in to our temporary living environment in the Las Vegas area.  Although we've been quite busy getting acquainted with our new surroundings, I will be back to scrapping really soon.  In the meantime, I want to tell you about the November sketch challenge that's going on at My Creative Sketches.

This is my take on the sketch.  Allison had lots of fun dressed as a cute little witch for Halloween this year.

I used papers and a title diecut from a few of my favorite Teresa Collins collections along with a variety of Primas (some from my friend Michelle!) and a Zva flourish that I cut apart.

This is the sketch - I followed it quite closely but used two photos instead of one.

Pam assembles the most generous prizes and this month's is no exception, as you can see in the photo :)  The prize winner is determined by random draw, and you have all the way until December 14th to submit your entry, so I hope you'll give it a go!  All of the details can be found on the My Creative Sketches blog, here.
